Naperville’s energy future hangs in the balance. The City Council must soon decide whether to renew the city’s long-term partnership with the Illinois Municipal Electric Agency (IMEA), the nonprofit power consortium that has provided Naperville with affordable, reliable electricity for decades.

Expert consultants and the city’s Public Utility Advisory Board have both recommended renewing the IMEA contract, yet political hesitation and repeated delays threaten to push Naperville past critical deadlines.
